Fractional CISO leadership that works inside the real organisation
Organisations do not all need the same CISO model. Some need a permanent executive. Others need experienced leadership, independent challenge and practical direction for a defined part of the week or month.

What this covers
Strategy and roadmap
Cybersecurity strategy, priorities and a practical roadmap that fits the business, not a generic control catalogue.
Risk and governance
Risk assessment, board reporting, accountability and decision support that stands up to challenge.
People and operating model
Team design, resourcing, supplier oversight and the operating rhythm needed to keep improvement moving.
Technology challenge
Credible challenge across cloud, SaaS, product, identity, engineering and architecture decisions.
Assurance and customers
ISO/IEC 27001 support, policies, evidence and customer security assurance without confusing paperwork with protection.
Incident readiness
Response, crisis decision-making, BCDR dependencies and rehearsals before the worst day arrives.
JandaSec can work from board-level decisions through to technical delivery, keeping strategy, risk and engineering connected rather than treating them as separate conversations.
Senior leadership without theatre
Fractional CISO is not a cheaper imitation of a permanent CISO. It is a different operating model for organisations that need experienced security leadership and independent judgement, but do not need — or are not yet ready for — a permanent executive CISO five days a week.
What the engagement can cover
- Cybersecurity strategy and roadmap
- Risk assessment, prioritisation and board reporting
- Security operating model, resourcing and supplier oversight
- Policies, standards, ISMS and assurance improvement
- Customer security assurance and questionnaires
- Secure cloud, SaaS, product and engineering challenge
- Incident readiness, crisis response and BCDR
- AI governance, third-party risk and remediation oversight
Flexible by business need
Some periods need board-level strategy. Others need an architecture decision, an incident exercise, a customer assurance issue, an audit response or a difficult risk decision. A fractional model works because the leadership adapts to what the business needs without losing the wider security context.
What clients should expect
Clear priorities, practical decisions, visible ownership and evidence that improvement is actually happening. The role should reduce ambiguity and improve decision-making, not create another layer of reporting.
When Fractional CISO leadership fits
- Growth or technology change has outpaced the current security model
- The board needs clearer visibility and challenge
- A permanent CISO role is being designed or recruited
- Investor, customer or regulatory expectations have increased
- Security needs to move from policy to delivery
- The organisation needs a roadmap and leadership without unnecessary management overhead
- Experienced CISO leadership is needed alongside an existing security, IT or technology team
When a permanent CISO may be the better answer
If the role requires daily executive ownership, continuous people management, permanent operational command or leadership of a substantial internal security function, a full-time CISO may be the better model. JandaSec will say so when that is the right answer.
Boundary
JandaSec provides independent advice, challenge and defined Fractional CISO leadership. Client boards and management retain their own decision-making authority and ownership of business risk unless a separate appointment explicitly changes that position.
